Ben Day10/265 Tan Pit Woods - Mud heaven

Ben Day10/365 Garmin

Double figures!! Thought I'd celebrate with a new route today - Tan Pit Woods, just next to the school run so it's really easy and convenient. Apparenty Oak was taken from this little woods during Medieval times to line pits filled with (water?) during tanning cow hides to make leather.

A beautiful little place, again a little brook running through it making it uber muddy in the bottom - clearly ancient woodland. Just me the wrens and a few squirrels! - not fast, just great to explore a new route that's sure to become a favourite. There's an extension I didn't try too, out to the East, parallel with Sandy lane that needs to go. I'll celebrate Day 20 with a visit to this place again I think. Keep getting the miles in!!

Druids 85 miler starts tomorrow over three days so won't be updating until at least Sunday night!

  2. OOH Mr B, Good Luck! I did Druids last year & loved it (apart from the cold filthy showers & rubbish food, and crappy accomodation!!) Enjoy. Nicky
