Charles: Day 299 & 300/365 - Three Hundred Days Done

300 days done and I'm feeling the 1273.5 miles in the knees. Only 65 days to go to the 'potential' end to this challenge but I've no idea what my plans are at present as I may continue on with a reassessment of my minimum distance or take a wee break and come back strong again. Who knows!!

Both runs were deliberately slow easy jogs to try and conserve as much energy as possible for my half marathon on Sunday. I'm not looking forward too it as my knees are really sore. I think I need new trainers with more cushioning support because my insoles don't seem to be providing enough support. Might pop into a running shop tomorrow for a wee look :)

Running club was supposed to be doing the monthly medal 10k time trial tonight but we didn't for some reason. So myself sue and Nicky decided to hit the course to see if we could improve on Sundays performance. The coarse was wet as we had tonnes of rain in the last few days. Any way I didn't PB it but had a good run

Nicky: Day 16 10k route again. by knickerscat at Garmin Connect - Details

Sue (my running club mate), Rob (from this challenge) & I decided to rerun the 10k route to try & better Sundays times. Alas, with a humungus cloud burst with some pretty riverlike roads, & my tummy deciding to play up a bit, I for one didnt achieve my aim. Still did it in 56min though so not too bad. Pleasant evening despite the very wet roads & inconsiderate drivers who think its funny to drive very fast through the puddles!!! :D

Met up with a friend for a trial Garmin map run around Bruton. Very hilly area & Jannine is a pretty fast runner. Off road mainly with plenty of mud - what more can I say. Very warm for it too.

Charles: Day 298/365 - On the mend?

Another knackering minimum distance run. I had very sore legs, knees and hips from the outset but not as bad as the day before. On the mend? Hopefully!!

Charles: Day 297/365 - Hobble, hobble

A slow and painful hobble tonight as my knees and hips seemed to have seized up. I was fine this morning but got worse as the day went on and I stiffened up. Ho hum, need to get fit for Sunday's half marathon

Charles: Day 296/365 - Deer me!

Today was a tired run in the pouring rain. Knackered beyond belief!!!

Oh deer, deer me. Bambi is gonna get me. Taken yesterday whilst I was marshalling at knockhill. The deer quite a bit larger and a lot closer than the picture shows and it was heading straight for us before the last second dash into the gap in the tyres. And there was me thinking I was there to watch racing cars :)

Bit of shower dodging today - typical bank holiday weather!! I have been getting all my kit together for the Trans Brit which I cant believe is only 12 days away. Thought i had better run with the backpack again as it has been in the loft since the MdS. Need to make sure it all is snug etc.

Popped out with Alf & did 2.6 miles. Back pack fine but it brought back nightmares from the desert. At least it doesnt weigh as much as it did out there. Will probably increase my weight gradually over the next week to make sure I have no rubs etc.

Photo attached. Wet but very muggy!!

Charles: Day 295/365 - BTCC Day 2

Day 2 of the British Touring Cars at Knockhill and what a busy day it was. Andy Neate crashing into the tyres at our corner, some Porsche getting stuff, another few Porsches smashing it up, a few Ginettas to recover + loads more. This all accounted to a wee bit of yours truly appearing on the TV. However, by the time I got home I was totally knackered and really really strugled during my run. In hind sight I should've just got home and went for my run rather than sit down and allow all the muscles to stiffen up. Great but very tiring weekend :)

Thanks Nicky for inviting me to do it. One of the best things I've done. :)

Well another week goes by and I have 75 days to go!! Weather has been mostly good although the last couple have been a bit hot again. Nothing like the week we had in the 90s and 100s earlier in the summer.

Went for a run in the heat of the day today, as I want to be ready for some heat in the 1/2 marathon next weekend. Went out along Greyhound Trail to Rangeline Rd and then back again through the high school. Was gouging o run linger but though I had to be back to pick up the "Grannies", but now it will be another 3 hours before they get here. Buzz and Millie have started a healthy lifestyle challenge...this sort of thing is catching! They have to set exercise and eating goals for 8 weeks.

Nicky: Day 13 Battle of Sedgemoor 10k

Nicky: Day 13 Langport 10k by knickerscat at Garmin Connect - Details

Woke up full of beans & looking forward to the 10k. Alfie marshalling so we got down to town early for his brief & for me to do late entry! Missed the online deadline.
Once both sorted had a coffee in a local cafe before heading for start line. Legs a little heavy so I decided 55mins would be acceptable & 53min would delight me. No chances of PB although a month ago that was my aim.
Started off fairly slowly - let Sue my sparring partner charge off with the quicker runners. Felt fine after the first hill out of town so settled into a steady pace picking runners off gradually. Caught up with Sue at the 7km mark & overtook her at 8.5k.  Felt fab running down the road back into Langport. I had no idea of my time but Alf said I looked really strong as I ran past his marshall post. Coming into the home straight a couple of our club runners screamed at me to Run Run Run as I could make a sub 50min.  Put foot as they say in South Africa & charged across the line in 49:58 - PB done!
Totally totally delighted and surprised!!!!!

Busy old day at work followed by making canapes for a party & "partying". I had decided to do my 2m for both Friday & Saturday before & after midnight. This would give me the whole of Saturday free then to chill before our club 10k race on Sunday - I had been hoping for a PB.
Partied later than I should have & overindulged on an empty stomach - always a BIG NO NO for me!
Oh well! Still - Alf & I pootled out & completed the 4m for the 2 days in a light drizzle. Warmish evening so not too bad!
Didnt turn Garmin off properly when got home, so looks like I took around 30 hrs to do the 4m!

Charles: Day 294/365 - BTCC Day 1

A long day standing about whilst marshalling at Knockhill race track for the British Tourng Cars. Saturday is free practice and qualifying so the day is usually quite tame but we still had a few incidents and crashes to deal with. It was bucketting with rain for most of the afternoon so it made for a rather wet bolier suit and waterproofs. When I got home it was time to do my 5k and by golly gosh it was damn hard work tonight with tired and dead legs. Never mind thats 42 weeks completed with 1254 miles doen. Only 10 weeks and about 250 miles to go :)

Another day off work. Drove up to the downs and jogged around in the rain (which wasn't a great idea when you've got a cold). But, did the run and didn't feel too bad. Probably due to all the rest I've been getting. Going stir crazy in the flat so it was good to get out.

Charles: Day 293/365 - Olympics Gold Challenge Completed!

A very very tired and dead legged run that was just over 8km long. My breathing was totally fine but the legs just refused to obey my commands to go faster.

Tonights run also meant that I completed the Olympics Gold Challenge to cover 2012km before the start of the Paralympic Games. Here's a link to the details of the gold challenge www.goldchallenge.org

A long busy weekend ahead with marshalling at the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at Knockhill. Over 12 hours on my feet for both Saturday and Sunday in all possible weather pushing cars out of gravel traps, etc and then my 5k at night. Look out for my ugly mug on ITV4 on Sunday :)

Nicky Day 10 (302) Tamworth run

Untitled by knickerscat at Garmin Connect - Details

Overnighter last night in Tamworth so popped out & did a 3+miler before continuing on up to Mansfield. Found a nice path along the river. Tried to make it a loop but ended up running alongside a dual carriageway so had to back track the way I came. Very muggy & was wringing wet by the time I got back to the hotel. Nice start to what was going to be a very difficult day - funeral for a good friends 24 yr old son. :(

Charles: Day 291 & 292/365 - Tired!

Day 291 was a very slow lunch time run because I had the Speed of light event starting at just after midnight. I felt totally knackered during this run

Day 292 was a double run, the first run was my second Speed of Light event on Arthur's Seat just after midnight until about 2am. Very exhausting but totally great fun!! I'm also doing it again next Thursday night :))

The second run was a very tiring and very slow run in the muggy heat to the wife's work. I did this run because I've now covered over 2004km and almost reached the Olympic Gold Challenge of 2012km before the start of the Paralympic Games. I'll get another big medal for achieving my distance and raising money for the Maggies Centres charity :))

Day 51 - Lunchtime 3 miler by Pljrun

Charles: Day 289/365 - Interesting Day!

My day started with a trip to hospital for my day bed appointment and getting out at about 12.30pm with a really sore throat after they took 2 samples for a biopsy from my esophagus so I should hear the results in about 3 weeks. When I got home I was starving cos I hadn't eaten in about 24 hours but I was full after just a plate of soup. How can that be??

The run was tough with a gammy foot, very sore throat and the after effects of a sedation. I was sweating buckets and had some serious stomach cramps. Run done though some well chuffed that I don't have to start at day 1 again as that was making me more nervous than the hospital appointment.

The one good thing from today is that I found out that my rest heart rate has dropped to 48bpm from 52bpm since I started this challenge. Woohoo any lower and I'd be dead lol

Nicky: Day 5 Luccombe Hills! by knickerscat at Garmin Connect - Details

Well the forecast was for the hottest weekend of the year so far! That was obviously for the rest of the country and not a small wee corner of Somerset near Porlock!! Went camping with friends for the weekend & did not see a ray of sunshine, inch of blue sky or dry piece of ground. Peed with rain, heavy damp cloud & apart from the wine that flowed and brightened things up, it was a wet miserable weekend. Did 2 trots out - very hilly this part of Somerset but also very beautiful.

4m out & back run up a mega hill - had to stride up some of it! Gorgeous area although we couldnt see much due to low cloud & absolutely tipping down rain! Wringing wet by the time got back to camp! Happy days!! :D

Day 123/365

A 10k meander round town on Tuesday to go and pick up some festival tickets. Running through the centre was way too touristy though. Was pleased when I got on the Water of Leith paath and could run again.
Day 124/365

Two runs today but I tend to record them on the same file. First one was around 8am to go and pick a rental car up. It was quite warm as I got there and was sweating like mad although I'd only done 3k. Then in the evening I did a bit of a run with the club (I was time keeping a 5k TT but ran to the start and back with them.
Day 125/365

2 runs again today. First one after I dropped the car off at the rental place again. Then in the late afternoon I added another 10k run into the Colinton Dells to finish off at the running track to do some coaching. Very warm run again, but very enjoyable too.
Day 126/365

Charles: Day 286 & 287/365 - Gammy Foot

Both day 286 and 287 have been a real struggle because I hurt my foot at the Speed of Light event on Wednesday night (day 285). I was supposed to be doing the event again tonight and I'm totally gutted that I've had to pull out of it because my foot wouldn't take the strain of running a very tough hilly trail course during the early hours of the morning. I would hate to have let myself or the team of runners down if I couldn't perform to my best for such a fantastic event.

Charles: Day 282 to 285/365 - Speed of Light Anybody

Day 282 was with the running club and I took them on a wee bit of a different route that involved a bit of trail running and they loved it.

Day 283 and Day 284 were my midnight gamble where I start of at about 11.30pm to do the current days run and then 12.02am to do the next days run. I was knackered in the muggy conditions but enjoyed it.

Day 284 part 2 was me taking part in the Speed of Light event that's part of the Edinburgh Festival. The event involves about 100 runners dressing up in special light suits and running about over the very steep hills of Arthur's Seat late at night putting on a show for paying spectators. Each and every runners suit is controlled by a production team who switch the suits on and off and change the colours of the lights. We also perform a few different choreographed moves other than just running back and forth up and down some very steep slopes. The performance goes from about 10pm until 1.30am and each runner is part of a team that's on the hill for about 90 minutes. This is the toughest 5k I've ever had to do and the good thing is that everybody was completely exhausted and almost on our knees by the end of the event. The difficult thing for me is that I hurt the heel of my foot after about 30 minutes in and felt I was starting to drag my leg about 10 minutes before the end. I loved taking part in the Speed of Light so much that I'm doing a second one on Saturday. As a reserve runner I could be doing even more of these before the end of August :))

Day 285 was a limp with a very very sore left foot and I only did the minimum distance. It was a late night run but sadly no funky Tron style light suit :)

My run home was a little tougher today as my quads felt like they had a good work out and they did as I managed to do 22 miles in 2 days.
For the next 9 days im getting ready foe my 'Home' 10k organised by  my club Langport Runners.  Im hoping to get sub 48mins and this will be my last speedy race before the big day.

Day 58/365 Club Night at Garmin Connect - Details
Woke this morning In a bad mood as I only did 15 out of the 20 miles as it was my last LSD run before the marathon as i have a 10k a week Sunday. But Im keeping up the mileage.
Later that day I was reading some training book and It mentioned that a guy had planned to do 18 miles but had to pick his kids up from school so he cut the run at ten miles. But went out the next day and did the 8 to make up his long run distance without over compensating. So this put me in a better mood as I knew at the club I'd do 5-7 miles on the club run. Also talking to club members helped.

Day 38 by Sallycinn

I'm officially exhausted by work!  Working as a EFL manager/teacher is great except in the summer which our busiest time of year.  I've been flat out since June and can't wait for it to be over.  I've been running on empty for a few weeks now which is why I've only been doing my minimum mileage.  Would like to up it but don't have the energy at the moment.  Today I felt nauseous all afternoon and walked home feeling like I was going to be sick.  As soon as I got home I was which is unusual for me as I'm never sick.  But, I still did my run!  Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have dreamt of running after being sick - but I had no choice.  I took a plastic bag with me just in case - but I was fine and went straight to bed afterwards.  Feel better today (next morning).

Nicky: Day 2 (294) Run with club

Untitled by knickerscat at Garmin Connect - Details

Got a bit of ribbing at club from those who saw the FB piccie of my gorgeous Quasimodo look!! Still, all back to normal now, not quite Esmerelda, but defo not Quasi!!!

Good run with the club. Did a 6 miler up Wick Hill then around the backs streets of Curry Rivel. Legs a bit heavy to start but my sparring partner Sue, pushed us both along nicely. Really enjoyed it.

Nicky: Day 1 or is it Day 293! Dilemma!!!

Nicky: Day 1 (293) Knole Rd by knickerscat at Garmin Connect - Details

Oh No!  I am in a pickle. Had a bit of a time at work yesterday. Had to go to Birmingham for an all day meeting. Had planned my run at around 7:30 when I would get home. Arrived at 09:15 & mentioned to my colleagues that the last time I was at this hotel (around 3 years ago) , I ended up in an ambulance! Post lunch my face blew up like a balloon, wheezing, hives etc!!! Meeting was at the Hilton Metropole - usual typical bog standard buffet lunch: deep fried everything!! Low and behold around an hour or two after lunch, my eyes started swelling, followed by my lips & tonge. Hives on wrists & crook of arms, wheezing like a 20 a day smoker! Panic! Not me, but my colleagues. Was taken into local A&E & after 2 hrs was told I wasnt too drive. Also given steroids etc etc.
Went home with a colleague but dressed in a business suit with no Garmin & not arriving til gone 22:30, I couldnt get my 2miles in!!! I AM DEVASTATED, especially after 292 days of it!!!

Went for my usual boring old Knole Rd 2miles this afternoon but do I log this as DAY 1 (AAGH)? I am prepared to start all over as this is a 365 dayer & not a "miss a day here or there"!!!

Suggestions welcome. I will continue to log with both numbers and see what happens I think!

This piccie was taken around 5 or 6 hours after the swelling started, so it was actually greatly improved!! Quasimodo springs to mind!!!

Day 57/365 Not a good run

Day 57/365 Not a good run - Details
This morning I set out at 6 am to do 20 miles. Started of really good and about 12 miles in my legs started to feel weak which i found strange anyway i plugged on till the 15 mile mark at which point I had to throw the towel in as i was now feeling dizzy and for those who don't know that feeling dizzy for me can mean I could be about to get a shock from my ICD . So I walked the last bit back home and luckily i didn't get a shock and my heart rate was not near the danger zone but that small dizzy spell had knocked me. So here now i write about the first training fail. So far towards my marathon training I started in May I've done 10 miles,14 miles,16 miles, 18 miles and 15 miles besides various 10 and 5 km's.So I think despite today's small set back 'Im happy with the long runs I've done in prep for the Cheddar Marathon on september 9th.
And don't think i'm only doing 1 mile runs till then ! I've got a 10k on 26 august to get a pb in
And I hope to get another long run in if I can free up some time

Day 277/365 Challenge by margcurtis13 at Garmin Connect - Details

Another gorgeous night. I am feeling pretty good while I am running at the moment which is a nice change. Must enjoy it while it lasts! Did a North and South Foster Grove combo. Came across an Opossum which I thought would be afraid of me but it just stood its ground on the side of the path and gave a death stare...which it seemed to do rather well.. Decided to give it a wide berth, they say wild animals around here that are not behaving normally may have rabies...I think that is actually pretty rare nowadays.

Day 43  - Sunday club run - Not what it seems!

Not what it seems ! well the run lists it as 4.88 miles, it was actually 12 miles but as far as the Garmin app on the phone is concerned I ran accross a couple of fields from Drayton and am still not home yet !! Was meant to be a club run of about 10 ish for Laura (she knows my miles are measured Somerset miles!) so we did 12 (who's counting) we all got back safely and in time for the marathon. Mind you we picked up a dog at Oathe and it came all the way to Langport, it was given a car ride home! Lovely run, well I enjoyed it anyway.

Day 42  - Early Saturday run

Off out today so needed to go early but did not get up so all in a rush just the three miles odd, but yet again I have proved to myself that if you get straight out of bed, into running gear and set off you will NOT enjoy it. I need a cup of tea at least, before I go anywhere, even in the car.

Hello
With the olympics nearly over and some great moments in sporting history been made, I have been really in a good mood with Team GB getting the results.
Anyway I had a bit more time today i s did my loop or as charles called it' The Sperm route'

Karl: Day 118b-122/365

Well there is a technical hitch I wasn't expecting. Day 121 has failed to load into Garmin Connect. Any ideas on what I can do? It is on the watch but when uploaded it just comes back with "Failed".

Last Wednesday mornings run was good but the evening run was really, really hard. I felt I was 40 miles into an ultra with calves really tight. Luckily it was "just" a tempo run with the club and not intervals.
Day 118b/365

Only did just shy of 4k to run down to Saughton track but calves were still shot. Luckily I was just coaching at the track.
Day 119/365

Friday's run was to Dalry pool, then the bank and Sainsbury's. No change in the calf situation.
Day 120/365

On Saturday Fiona and I went for a cycle round West Lothian with a coffee stop in the Park Bistro just outside Linlithgow. Really enjoyable ride but my pace was well off as Fiona was riding away from me. It has been 2 months since I had last been on my road bike. Did a 3k run off which felt hard, but that was because I had just cycled and wasn't used to running off the bike anymore. I was running at 5 min/k pace.
Sadly this is the run that doesn't want to load to GC.

Yesterday again just a quick 3k. Parents are currently over from Austria and I could only fit a short run in there.
Day 122/365

Some longer stuff during the week this week coming up.
I have in the mean time topped my 2011 mileage in 2012.

Sunday 12 August 2012

Charles: Day 280 & 281/365 - 1,200 miles later

I have now ran more than 1,200 miles during this challenge and my next goal is to reach 1,500 miles before I get to day 365. If I just do my minimum distance of 5k each day then I'll just be shy of the target at 1460 miles so I'll have to try that wee bit harder if my legs will let me. These 2 runs were really tough with dead legs and my right hip is really sore. I think its just the old injury I got early on during the challenge trying to slow me up but no chance of that happening :)

Marg: Day 275-276/365 Challenge - Cooler weather at last!

A couple of very nice runs in and around Smokey Ridge Estate. Very nice weather over the past couple of days as made the runs very pleasant! I have also finished my 4 week physical therapy program to resolve the pain in my butt/leg. I found out that I and "hamstring dominant" when I run and the stretches and exercises that Ruchira has been giving me have really helped. I have also overcome my problems with running in shoes with orthotics and my feet feel much better. The test will be if they stop the pain I get after about 4-5 miles of running. Hope to test that out tomorrow. I will miss the Olympics when they end tomorrow, I have really enjoyed watching all the events.

Charles: Day 277 to 279/365 - Hot & Sweaty

All 3 runs were very tiring and I was very heavy legged. The heat has been a big factor on my slow times as well. I felt light headed on the day 277 run and had to walk but thought I was going to pass out.

I'm now trying a combination of nurofen express and ibuprofen to kill the pain in my right hip and both my knees. Oh and my cold baths to get rid of the lactic acid. I love this challenge that I will do anything to keep going :)

Day 273A/365 Challenge-phone died by margcurtis13 at Garmin Connect - Details

There were thunderstorms today. I thought it would go for a run during a gap in the storms, however I should have been out the door a little earlier as there was quite a bit of lightening when I started off. I was calculating how far away the storm was on the basis of the time between seeing the lightening and hearing the thunder and worked out that the storm was consistently about 15 miles north of me and I decided that it was going to pass north of Carmel. I was about 3/4 of a mile from home and the storm suddenly started getting considerably closer. I ran out a little further to ensure that I made my two mile minimum but as I was doing so it started raining like crazy and was very wild and windy. I pretty quickly got drenched, like having buckets of water thrown down on me. I was not really minding getting wet but was hoping that branches would not start coming down. As I came back onto Hawthorne Rd the lightening as was about 6 miles away and I looked at my phone and was dismayed to see that it had stopped working! I go back totally soaked, including phone the lightening about 3 miles away, and when I checked my garmin connect it had only recorded 1.09 miles, even though I actually ran a little over 2.0. With a dead phone and storms now on top of us for most of the night, I could not go out again and get another mile recorded.
Day 273A/365 Challenge-phone died by margcurtis13 at Garmin Connect - Details

More storms coming today so I did my run while dinner was cooking, before the storms were even close. I did 3.19 miles tonight with the extra mile making up for the gap in recording yesterday. My phone is intensive care (container of white rice.....not sure if it will pull through), so I used Brad's phone. Hope this is OK with everyone.

Popped out to do a slow 2m & by gosh was it slow!!! My legs felt like I had 10kg weights tied to them. Very heavy & sluggish. Really did struggle with this minimum run. Wonder if the old bones are complaining about the fact it is nearly day 290 and the fact I have a multi day ultra in 4 wks time?!  Oh well - tough!!!

Up to London to watch ladies tri, mara & of course have tickets for the gymnastics. What can I say. Ladies mara day! Good spot right on the turning point in front of the Tower of London! Again amazing atmosphere. My wee trot was again spent crowd dodging. It was done in 2 splits but unbeknown to me until I got home & downloaded the run, the satelites had not kicked on on the second part, so not my full run logged. Apologies but I cannot turn back the clock to redo!

Checked the watch properly today to ensure full trot logged.

All I can say about the Olympics is that I think this country has put on an amazing event. London looks fantastic & everyone is happy. It was great seeing all the union flags & flags from around the world being proudly displayed. We spent quite a bit of time in front of the large screen near Tower Bridge & the atmosphere was fantastic. We actually enjoyed being here more on Saturday night than being in the North Greenwich Arena for the gymnastics final! Seeing Mo Farah, Jess Ennis and of course Greg Rutherford all get gold was fantastic. Inspiring!!

Karl: Day 105-118a/365

Another 2 weeks down. Main thing that happened over the last 2 weeks was that we spent 5 days at the Olympics in London and in the event I got my latest outing in the daily run challenge - 11:15pm. The Olympics were amazing and London was absolutely buzzing.

Day 105/365
Usual Thursday run to coach at the track.

Day 106/365
10 mile loop round the Edinburgh hills. Great day for running even though I wasn't very fast.

Day 107/365
Quick 3k along the canal towards the city centre. Reasonably speedy. These short runs are turning into speed sessions. Especially when it is raining.

Day 108/365
Repeat of yesterday's run - much faster.

Day 109/365
Usual Monday run to the Commie Pool and back for some coaching.

Day 110/365
Fantastic 25k run into the lower Pentland hills with some incredible speed for a hilly trail run. Really enjoyed that although the legs tired a bit towards the end.

Day 111/365
London Day 1: Run along the Thames and back along some back streets. This was after having watched the cycling time trials and having some beers at those TTs. Run still felt pretty good.

Day 112/365
Lovely morning run - both sides of the Thames - crossing Millennium bridge first, along the Embankment, back over Charing Cross footbridge. Had to fight the commuters on the bridges. Spent the rest of the day in the Olympic Park and the Aquatic Centre in the evening.

Day 113/365
Another morning run, heading East this time taking in Tower Bridge and The Tower. Run felt really hard. The previous 2 days of Olympics had wiped me out. In general it was an Olympics recovery day and we went to visit Fiona's sister and later met a friend of mine.

Day 114/365
Another Olympics Day for us - triathlon in the morning which was awesome - well the crowds were - we had a good spot to watch the bike but it was rather difficult to see much of swim or run. In the evening we went to the Proms. I had planned to get my run in during the afternoon but time just ran away as we were also meeting up with a friend of mine. In the end I did my run after we got back to the hotel from the Proms - at 11:15pm. It was actually a really good run once I got away from the Thames as there were too many people doing what people do on a Saturday night.

Day 115/365
Quick morning run round to the London Eye and back to the Tate Modern (where we were staying - well just behind the Tate) and then off to see the women's marathon. Back home that evening.

Day 116/365
Back to normal: run to the Commie Pool and back. Solid pace at 4:47min/km

Day 117/365
A very speedy 5k: 22min.

Day 118a/365
First run for today. 10k up the Water of Leith in 50 min with some walk break. Club interval session planned for this evening.

Day 30 by Sallycinn - 1 month anniversary :)

Tired today but still enjoyed it.  I guess I've done around a month now so that's an achievement in its self.  Happy. :)

Charles: Day 275 & 276/365 - Monsoon?

Day 275 was with the running club on a night where the heavens opened up and the rain was bouncing about 6 inches of the ground. I've never ran in anything like it. We cut the run short after 8+ km because it was so bad and the water on the pavements and roads was about ankle deep and huge rivers running down the hills. Great fun though :)

Day 276 was in the scorching heat without a cloud in the sky so I just did the minimum and went home to one of my nice cold baths to clear the legs of the lactic acid.

Also I'm fund raising for St Margrets Hospice when I run the Cheddar Marathon on 9th September

Tony Days 283-287/365 - why are we doing this???

A question that I have asked myself all year! why the hell are we doing this?
best reason I can think of?
is because we can!
looked up my report for the year so far and it makes phenomenal reading! over 2000km of running and over 177,000kcal burned!
thats the equivalent of me running from Glasgow to Saint Petersburg!
and also the equivalent calories of eating 2743 digestive biscuits!
thank god I started this challenge so I can eat that many biscuits!

Charles: Day 274/365 - Scottish Gas 10k

Scottish Gas 10k: Cost = £15, Medal = 0!!

This is the first organised run that I've done where the finishers don't get a medal. We got a drawstring bag bag and a t-shirt, but no frigging medal. It's the one and only time I'm doing this or any other Scottish Gas run. Pissed off doesn't describe how annoyed I am!!!

The run was a straight forward one along the Edinburgh coastline and my hips were killing me from the start so it was a struggle all the way round but I completed it and don't even have a medal to show for it!!

Me and the sister in law after the race. She said I was a bit smelly lol

Had a bit more time today so i went out and did the first route i ran all the way back in may 2011. I for got what a nice little 2.25 mile route this is, it has some nice flat sections and a small hill.
Only a mile tomorrow and tuesday as the 5k is on wednesday.

Day 28 by Sallycinn

Inspired by the amazing Olympic marathon runners, I did a 3 mile run, Feel happy with that as I so desperately want to get my mileage up. This is a good start. :)

Day 27 by Sallycinn

Been a hard week for me coming back to Bristol, tired from the last few weeks and getting a new routine going and so have only managed my minimum for a week.  I'm so glad I set a low minimum so that I could keep doing the challenge - it's been good for me though and I'm hoping this weekend will inspire me to run further.  This evening I had a run with Dad - nice to have some company.  Beautiful evening and had to race back to see Jess win Gold. :)

Charles: Day 273/365 - Another one done

Another tough heavy legged run in some very warm sunshine. Not feeling too great but I'm still going to do the Scottish Gas 10k tomorrow in Edinburgh. Not looking for a great time so anything under an hour will do me fine.

Marg: Day 269/365 Challenge - Broad Ripple Personal Best five miler

Went in an organized 5 mile run this morning down at Broad Ripple. It was a little cooler and no sun so pretty good running conditions considering the weather we have been having. Brad came as well and we were pretty happy with our time, improving about a minute per mile on last years time. It is a really pretty run and not too busy or overly organized which made it a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

I forgot to mention that I now have less than 99 days to go!! yee-hah!!

Just my old faithful run back from work between shifts

Marg: Day 266-268/365 Challenge - still hot, late night runs in Carmel.

Very hot and I did not much feel likes running tonight, but managed to kick myself out the door and did a "cul-de-sac crawl" around Smokey Ridge.

So I had to do the rest of my run again after work on Friday. It was a pretty nice run down Greyhound trail and around the football fields and tennis courts at the high school.

Tony days 276-282/365- fast approaching the last 65 days!!!

This challenge has had its ups and downs and it's battles with time, fitness and sanity! However, I really feel that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
One thing I have to say is that I do seem to be getting more tired as the weeks go on!
Think my body is finally telling me that I have run the best part of a year!
We are getting lots of new people coming on-board with the challenge and I hope they enjoy it as much as I have. We certainly are leading the way in the biggest of challenges!
As we are coming along to the end of the challenge my mind now turns to what kind of award we give to our athletes - I want something truly special that we can collect along the years of running 365!
Watch this space!
Well done to all the run365'ers! Keep on running!

Todays run was not on my garmin, at 1820 went to go for run, garmin would not turn on !!!! tried chargeing but it said complete, tried soft reset no good, can turn on in cradle but as soon as I take it off it went off. Still no watch at 2100 so loaded Map my run onto Sues phone and ran with that. 3.2 miles locked on site, can share everywhere except blogger, run can be found at address below. Hope this is acceptable. Will keep trying to find a way to get the details uploaded until I get my watch back! Anyway I shall keep trying.

Charles: Day 272/365 - Effing hard work

That was effing hard work tonight and my body aches like hell. My hips were so stiff that I basically shuffled along and my knees were really sore. I don't know what is wrong at the moment. Could be sitting too long at work and/or not doing any stretching before I start running. Methinks I need a cold bath to get rid of the lactic acid in my legs and then a hot bath afterwards to relax the muscles or even a visit to the sports massage guy :)

Return of the lead legs. 2m minimum before work then London - Yay!!
Really struggled & had to walk up our easy peasy hill. Legs very heavy & tired. Recovery not quick when you get old! :(
Anyway, off to London later as have gymnastic tickets for Monday. Hope to see Ladies Triathlon tomorrow & Ladies Mara on Sunday. Going to lap up some Olympic atmosphere.

Nicky: Day 282 Upton Loop

2m slow run. Legs now recovering. Kept it slow & enjoyed the run. Going to keep mileage low & slow for next week as have the Yeovilton 5k next Wednesday.
Not much else to say apart from this is one of more boring old miniumum mileage routes.

Charles: Day 269 to 271/365 - Is it still raining?

The rain decided to start chucking it down for my late day 269 run. I've still got a chest cold but felt okay otherwise. I'm starting to enjoy running in the rain because I've forgotten what a dry sunny day feels like :)

I did my late night double run to get day 270 and day 271 over with because its been a fairly busy time at work and I'm not geting a chance to do any lunch time runs. Felt totally knackered in the muggy heat and rain. Never mind, I've signed up to do the British Gas 10k in Granton, Edinburgh this weekend but not looking for any spectular time as I'm just doing it for the medal and I've still got a cold so just looking to do it in about 55 mins.

Catch up on by blogging for the week. Running continues to be in very hot weather.
Today was a bit of a meander through Foster Grove and Smokey Ridge
Day 261/365 Challenge by margcurtis13 at Garmin Connect - Details

Run around the block with Brad. Later in the Day Buzz and I took the dogs for a walk on a trail I had not done before. I wanted to check it out as a possible running route. It was beautiful, and ran along the river, however it was mostly used by mountain bikers and we had to watch out several times. Might give it a miss for running, but would definitely come back on my bike.

Longer run today, 6 miles, but did not get to 9 miles as planned because I ran out of time and had to get back for dinner. Nice run, just a little cooler.
