138/365 Park Run celebrations by Big Kev

138/365 Park Run celebrations by Big Kev

Following yesterday's turn of events today's run was also going to be an early (ish) one. The appointment at the car body shop was at 11:00 and on the other side of Bristol. So the plan was to run early, get the quote organised and then the rest of the day was for me! It is my Birthday on Monday and Tina and the girls had organised for a few friends and family to come over for drinks and a catch up. Therefore at 8:40am when I rolled out of bed I really didn't expect to be on the start line for Park Run by 9:00 am, as Ron Burgundy said, 'that escalated quickly!'

I had always planned to go, but a little more preparation is normally required. It was a Park Run of celebrations as Alan was due to run his 100th park run and conditions looked good for some PB's (other peoples I might add). Today's start line banter which is normally always about (for most people) lining up the excuses for why this run won't be a PB or will be a gentle jog because of extenuating circumstances, injuries or an increased level of 'can't be arsedness'. So my apologies (again) have to go out to Marcus, for saying all that I say, about not running hard, you will be well ahead of me today, blah, blah, blah and then ignoring everything I had said and go out all guns blazing. Upside though, another sub 20:00 for me and a top 10 finish (9th), a new PB for Marcus and Alan completing the run and therefore entering the elite 100 club. I am sure there were many more triumphant stories from the days run and I would encourage everyone to create their own, by signing up to this great running community. we are very lucky to have this in Bristol, a big thanks to Geoff and all the team.

Lets see how tonight affects tomorrows run!

With the end of the working week (for most) upon us I had a hectic schedule to fit in, so a run before work was always going to be the right choice. Following the subsequent events of the day it turned out to be a very good choice indeed.

The run itself is along side one of the main commuter routes into Bristol and as a consequence the traffic noise is quite loud. I therefore run with some music on to really just drown out the traffic. The sun was out the music was fast paced and the day ahead looked like being a good one. The working day was indeed a good one, very productive and one that allowed for a bit of forward planning as well.

The productive run of events soon stopped though, right at the point when I received a call from Tina to say she had been in a car accident! Through no fault of her own, another driver had decided to crash into the back of her car whilst she was stationary in a queue of traffic! There weren't any physical injures thankfully and all the bits of plastic and metal that are meant to bend and break did their jobs. However, the violation of someone else destroying your belongings does mean that emotions are high. Tina is one of the calmest people I have every known, so to see her so irate is unusual. Fortunately a few phone calls later and after some cajoling of the bent car parts, meant that Tina's car could at least be driven and we were even able to organise the inevitable repair quotes for Saturday Morning.

How quickly events can change in a matter of moments!

Charles: Day 130 to 138/365 - Playing Catchup

Been on holiday in Blackpool for the week so playing catchup.

I found out there was a 10k race on the Sunday (Day 132) and I had a 12 mile run to do so I ran 7.8k to the start to register for the race then did another 2.3k after I registered. I then did the 10k race in 53 mins so well pleased with that considering I've got a really sore knee at the moment.

This coming week is going to be mainly consist of the minimum distance of 3k as I do believe I'm running a marathon next week.

Looking forward to meeting Nicky and Sally so I better get the restaurant booked :)

Jack: Day 331/365...Running with the fellas from work.

Today was the sports development day at school. This was a chance for all pupils to play a variety of sports over the course of the day instead of their usual lessons. I spent my day supervising 'Ultimate Frisbee' and Basketball and it was a huge success. After school I popped out for a gentle run with the rest of the guys who are racing next week. We did a steady 10km run and discussed plans for race day and nutrition strategies! It's getting very close now and I cannot wait for Marathon weekend. Foot was a bit sore but nothing too serious. Just hoping it doesn't get any worse!

Jack: Day 326-330/365...Sore Foot!

Still having problems with the sole of my left foot. A few people have suggested that it sounds like Plantar Fasciitis. Not been to a physio yet but I may be headed that way shortly! For now I am just trying to rest it as much as possible and apply ice. I have been given a few stretches to work on also. Not long now until race day so I am just hoping things sort themselves out!

Angie - Day 136 - 6 miles Club Run

Untitled by AAllum20 at Garmin Connect - Details
Played badminton at lunch time which was quite hard work but very enjoyable. Trying to play once a week now. Beautiful day when got home so set off for the club. Within 10 minutes of the run it started tipping it down, got absolutely soaked :-) Very muddy run across fields and hills but good fun. 13 runners which is a good turn out for a Thursday night. Nice to see so many faces and makes such a good change from running on my own.

Out for a catch up with colleagues and food after work so another early morning run. Starting to take their toll now so hope I can get to the running club after work tomorrow and do a longer run.
