So you have decided to take part in one of the most demanding challenges out there, not only physically, but mentally, emotionally and the fact that you are committing to run everyday for a year!
I appreciate your enthusiasm to get to this point, however I would like to ask you a few questions...
1. Do you appreciate the commitment of running everyday for an entire year?
Remember you cannot take a day off!!
2. Have you decided your minimum distance?
From experience we would suggest selecting a smaller distance for those new to the challenge. Not meaning to say that we think you might not be able to do it, just that when you may be tired or ill or hungover, that you will be able to get out and at least record your minimum distance!
3. Do you have a Garmin GPS running device?
As part of the challenge you will be required to record all of your runs outside. This is because the only way we can verify if you have actually completed that run is by recording your GPS data from that activity. You could run on a treadmill but that's boring and we wouldn't respect you! The majority of the athletes taking part in this challenge use Garmin forerunner watches, however we are open to suggestions to using different methods of recording the running data, as long as it meets our standards!!
4. Do you realise that all of your runs have to be performed outside?
We have to do this in order to prove to everyone else in the challenge that you have actually run/jog/walked your minimum distance! If you were on a treadmill we cannot prove that you actually ran that run or just let the treadmill do the work!
Please realise that at one point in the year you will run through a whole winter! Please bear this in mind!!!!
5. Finally! Do you have a personal charity in mind that you would like to start raising funds for during the whole year of the run365challenge?
From experience all of the athletes have started to raise money for their respective charities at the 100 days mark as this point shows their commitment to the challenge and the fact that they are dedicated to getting to the end of their year!
So!!!!!
