Nicky: Day 215 - 220 Australia

Nicky: Day 215 Airlie Beach, Australia by Nicky.C at Garmin Connect - Details

Flew up to the Whitsunday Islands, Great Barrier Reef for a week on a catamaran with friends. Arrived late afternoon & whilst the lads sorted the boat & the girls stocked up the fridge (!) I trotted off. Very warm but a nice little run into Airlie.

Similar run to yesterdays before we sailed out on the boat.

Sailed into the very posh Hamilton Island. Run was mainly around the marina area and around the little main roads - pretty but nothing special to report.

Well a cyclone is heading our way so we are holed up in the marina. Very muggy but lots of heavy rain. Alf & I decided to head to explore some of the islands footpaths & hills. Tough old run - Alf cursing the hills but had the cloud not been so low the views would have been spectacular. Photo of me on top of one of the biggest  hills on the island. As you can see the view is non existent!

Still holed up on Hamilton because of the cyclone. I decided to make the most of it & headed out & did a 9miler - very tough & very hilly - check out the run profile. Did see a kangaroo though which was exciting.

Cyclone eased so were able to sail on & move islands today. We were tied to a bouy and not in a marina so my run meant being taken onto shore by zodiac - being dropped off for my run & then picked up again. Very rough stoney path to the top of a hill and back. Very very rough in fact - I actually twisted my ankle a bit too. View quite stunning though.
