257/365 Bath Uni and Ashton Court 3.5 Miles by Big Kev

257/365 Bath Uni and Ashton Court 3.5 Miles by Big Kev

It felt like a normal work day today, with the alarm clock going off and then the shower starting before even before daylight had broken! It was part 2 of our uni tour with Jess and today destination was Bath University. Being only 16 miles away the relatively early start wasn't that necessary I am sure. However we had booked the first Business/Management lecture, so needed to be in and settled by 10:30. We were obviously there in plenty of time and used it wisely by looking at the campus and the accommodation on offer. Jess has a very defined set of criteria for her Uni and with the grades she is aiming for, who can blame her.

Bath even though it is one of the best in the country for the degree she is looking for, didn't have the right vibe. Now, considering she will be spending 4 years (on and off) there, the right vibe is very important. So once satisfied (or not in this case) off we trot back to Bristol and no sooner are we home, than Tina and I are back out. In my case I am running and in Tina's case she is cycling on Betty (see previous blog 252/365). As we live about half way up a hill just off the main A369 there is no polite way to ease yourself into your run/cycle its more of an arrrrgh which ever way you go. We chose the downhill finish which in turn meant the uphill start. Now all credit to Tina as she hasn't cycled much lately, so forcing yourself as far as you can, up the first hill is one mean feat. However Tina seems to have found a new Turbo feature on her bike (her words), which consist of her puffing hard while peddling as fas as she can uphill and then me starting to push her whilst I continue to run!

The upside to the first half effort is that the second half will repay you with some nice down hill sections and with the weather holding out we had some laughs as well. Once home and chores completed its time to blog, cook an early dinner and then settle down to a night in front of the TV. Jess being a Marvel geek (her words) has been treated to Ironman 3 on DVD, so I am guessing the TV schedule is also sorted.

I have backed my bag and sorted out my race kit and shirt for tomorrow.  Therefore I can now enjoy the evening and look forward to running with all the people taking part in Bristol Half Marathon.

Good luck to all the runners and may the conditions be fair.
