Marg: Day 205/365 Challenge - Late night run in Smokey Ridge

Late night run after a long week. Not much energy but it was a lovely cool night and I ended up enjoying the run. I am trying to think of what I will do once this challenge is over. Has anyone else been thinking about that?

Jack: Day 43/365...Jubilee weekend

Looking out of my window this morning I was not thrilled by the prospect of heading out for a run. It looked cold and grey and I knew that once I went out for my run I would be outside for a while. Nevertheless I headed out the door at half ten to join the running club at the gym. As we strode along the river I was pleased to feel the sun begin to come out from behind the clouds and enjoyed the long stretch along the river. The run involved lots of other mini-challenges such as scaling a wall, spontaneous crawling under benches and scrambling over a giant 'hedge-sofa' outside the Transport Museum. These all helped to break up the hour long run and added a bit of an extra challenge to proceedings. My legs were fairly sore after an intense night of deadlifting at CrossFit and I carried a pack on my back to add an extra bit of weight to the run. The run was a good one and I really enjoyed having some company whilst training! After the run I headed over the Kelvingrove Park with Tony to take a few of the guys for some circuit training. I was surprised by the large police presence in the park at this time of the day. The park was pretty much empty however half a dozen police officers were standing guard at the gates checking any bags of people entering the park and officers mounted on both horseback and mountain bike patrolled the park itself. It all seemed a bit excessive but then I was not in Glasgow last year when the park was apparently the location of a party which turned into a riot. Today's proceedings fortunately appear to have passed without event and hopefully the remainder of the weekend will be a good one!

Jack: Day 42/365

This morning I had another early lecture and so saved the run for later on in the day. After my class I spent a few hours in Dram with my mates before popping home to see Vicki who had been busy job hunting. I decided  to follow the same routine as last night and complete 5k before CrossFit, using the 2.5k jog home as a warm-down. It was a nice evening with the sun shining and so my jog along the river was really nice. CrossFit today was a combination of Deadlifts and Burpees...this was not ideal! Deadlift is possibly the lift which I find hardest and so tonight was a slow and painful one! I got through it though and it will have done me good to work on my  areas of weakness. The jog home was very slow however as I was aching after the WOD. Once again I had an amazing dinner waiting for me when I got home courtesy of Vicki! Great way to end the evening!

Jack: Day 41/365

This evening I decided to do my 5k run directly before CrossFit. Essentially this was because I had a lecture with the University in the morning and, by incorporating my run into my evening training, I would be able to have an extra hour in bed before class! I suppose I am making the most of my time as a student! After class Vicki and I decided to go for a trip to the supermarket which turned into a full day of wandering around Braehead looking at things which I can't currently afford! One perk however was the trip round Ikea when I was able to get a hot dog for 60p! Bargain! After a full day of wandering around the shops for hours the evenings run was fairly tricky and CrossFit was an additional challenge. The route I took was essentially my usual river run but I added in a few crossings of the bridges in order to make up 5 kilometres before I reached the box. Today's WOD involved a combination of wall-ball shots, box jumps and double unders. This was a tough one but again it played to my strengths so I was quite happy. After the workout I took my run home fairly slowly and made up an additional couple of kilometres.

bit of a nonedescript week of running - snatched here and there... ankle still giving occasional grief, trying to protect it in advance of LAMM next weekend... hope Tony's ripped ankle calms down a bit before then... looks nasty. We find out the area location on Thursday. All we know at the moment is that it's 2 hours drive North of Glasgow... winner!

Scout camp jamboree this weekend - I helped put up some of our Unit's tents on Thursday night for a few hours - great to see the neighbouring troops all coming together for a big weekend bash - plethora of green old-school canvas patrol tents and big white mess tents... ace and takes me back!!

Ollie and I are both there tomorrow and staying over - he gets to stay over on the Saturday night  - his first time camping with his Beever colony and first time camping without either Anusha or I - though I'll be camping by close-ish keeping an eye on our other Scouts! Really looking forward to it..I'll be there on, Sat and Sunday all day and night so hope to be able to find some time to get some runs in - might have to get up early for a run along the coastline - we're about one field in from the Bristol Channel! Sounds like we've got a packed programme..looks like rain too - get in!

All the best Nicky C for Comrades on Sunday!! will be thinking of you - make sure you beat the gun!

Charles: Day 209/365 - Feeling a wee better

I went for a lunchtime run at work and wasn't looking forward to it. I actually felt not too bad when I got out there but still feel heavy legged. I'm taking these runs very easy at the moment to try and use them as recovery runs because my next race is the Glenrothes 10k in just over a week

The details of the run can be found at Day 209/365 challenge

Charles: Day 208/365 - Late night trundle

I so couldn't be bothered today and felt extremely tired. I eventually got kicked out the door to do my 5k around the hills where I stay. I was knackered beyond belief when I got back home!! Not a good one!
