Charles: Day 213/365 - Sports Massage

A bank holiday so a day of work for the Queens 60th Jubilee. A day of work means that I cut the grass, washed the car and did the hoovering and dusting and did a 5.6k run. Who says a day of work is a day of work!?

I also had a sports massage booked for 4pm. It is probably the most painful experience I've ever had as it was a full body massage and I was grimacing and swearing when he was doing my calf and ITB muscles. Strange but I felt great after it.

Day 207/365 Challenge by margcurtis13 at Garmin Connect - Details

The weather has warmed up again. Day 207 was a run along Greyhound Trail and around the high school (very hot) and 208 was a really nice twilight run to Gray Rd and back. The cat unfortunately marred the evening by slaughtering a beautiful cardinal and leaving it all over the back deck. We all decided that the cardinal must have flown into a window and to have been semiconscious for Chester to be able to catch it as he is not known for his hunting prowess.

Charles: Day 211 & 212/365 - Midnight Cowboy!?

I fell asleep after getting home from a long days bike marshalling at Knockhill Race Track. I was sound asleep and I've never been so grateful for the house phone ringing at about 11pm to wake me up. I woke up with a start and rushed to get ready to go for my day 211 run because if I didn't get out the door before 11.30pm then all my hard work on this challenge would have been for nothing.

I felt pretty good when I got out and started running in the nice cool evening that I had a brain wave and thought that I could kill two birds with one stone. I finished my 5k for day 211 just before midnight and decided to wait for a couple of minutes after midnight to do my 5k for day 212 as well.

By doing my day 212 run just after midnight means that I've got a longer rest/recovery period before I do my day 213 run on Tuesday. Result!!

Jack: Day 44/365

Today I decided to pop out and complete my 5km in the morning so that I could enjoy the rest of my Sunday without having to worry about fitting it in later on. I decided to run along the river today but to tackle it in the opposite direction to my usual route. This meant that I could enjoy a change of scenery as I kept the river on my left. This route took me up past the SECC and the Science Museum which are both very impressive and provided a welcome distraction as I made my way along the river. The weather was great for running as the sun came out but it didn't get too hot. I decided to run for just over 2.5km before turning round and heading home which would ensure that I covered my 5km total. Once I was home Vicki and I decided to take a walk along to the Riverside Museum as it was somewhere which neither of us had been and was made even more appealing by the fact that it is free entry! The museum was really impressive and hosted an array of historic forms of transportation. Of particular interest was a fascinating exhibit about Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree which discussed his World Record efforts at the hour-long cycle. Having spent the early part of the afternoon wandering around the museum and walking home Vicki and I decided to sample 'No. 1 The Chocolate Factory' which recently opened up not far from our flat. Vicki opted for the 'Luxury Hot Chocolate' which was amazing but possibly the most ridiculously rich drink I have ever experienced! I would have liked to have spent this evening enjoying some sort of jubilee celebration but most of my mates have decided to head home for the weekend and there doesn't seem to be a great deal going on in Glasgow today.

Day 206/365 Challenge - Outrun the Sun 5-miler

Busy weekend this weekend with kids coming and going, Buzz' last soccer match before tournament tomorrow and end of season party. It was probably just as well, Brad and I could not make it to the end of season party as we had the "Out run the Sun" race on at 7:00 pm. It was a really nice course, very pretty, great weather and we really enjoyed the run. We had PBs for this distance which topped the evening off nicely!

Charles: Day 210/365 - Late night run

At my dads for the weekend so it was late before I managed to get out for my run. I was tempted to do tomorrows run just after midnight but decided against it because I'll be getting up early to go to Knockhill to do a bit of bike marshalling. Felt not too bad tonight but it was rather chilly and cold on the chest.
