Another 2 weeks down. Main thing that happened over the last 2 weeks was that we spent 5 days at the Olympics in London and in the event I got my latest outing in the daily run challenge - 11:15pm. The Olympics were amazing and London was absolutely buzzing.
Day 105/365
Usual Thursday run to coach at the track.
Day 106/365
10 mile loop round the Edinburgh hills. Great day for running even though I wasn't very fast.
Day 107/365
Quick 3k along the canal towards the city centre. Reasonably speedy. These short runs are turning into speed sessions. Especially when it is raining.
Day 108/365
Repeat of yesterday's run - much faster.
Day 109/365
Usual Monday run to the Commie Pool and back for some coaching.
Day 110/365
Fantastic 25k run into the lower Pentland hills with some incredible speed for a hilly trail run. Really enjoyed that although the legs tired a bit towards the end.
Day 111/365
London Day 1: Run along the Thames and back along some back streets. This was after having watched the cycling time trials and having some beers at those TTs. Run still felt pretty good.
Day 112/365
Lovely morning run - both sides of the Thames - crossing Millennium bridge first, along the Embankment, back over Charing Cross footbridge. Had to fight the commuters on the bridges. Spent the rest of the day in the Olympic Park and the Aquatic Centre in the evening.
Day 113/365
Another morning run, heading East this time taking in Tower Bridge and The Tower. Run felt really hard. The previous 2 days of Olympics had wiped me out. In general it was an Olympics recovery day and we went to visit Fiona's sister and later met a friend of mine.
Day 114/365
Another Olympics Day for us - triathlon in the morning which was awesome - well the crowds were - we had a good spot to watch the bike but it was rather difficult to see much of swim or run. In the evening we went to the Proms. I had planned to get my run in during the afternoon but time just ran away as we were also meeting up with a friend of mine. In the end I did my run after we got back to the hotel from the Proms - at 11:15pm. It was actually a really good run once I got away from the Thames as there were too many people doing what people do on a Saturday night.
Day 115/365
Quick morning run round to the London Eye and back to the Tate Modern (where we were staying - well just behind the Tate) and then off to see the women's marathon. Back home that evening.
Day 116/365
Back to normal: run to the Commie Pool and back. Solid pace at 4:47min/km
Day 117/365
A very speedy 5k: 22min.
Day 118a/365
First run for today. 10k up the Water of Leith in 50 min with some walk break. Club interval session planned for this evening.
Looks like London was a great place to be in over the Olympics. I think I saw blue sky in one shot
