Day 282 was with the running club and I took them on a wee bit of a different route that involved a bit of trail running and they loved it.
Day 283 and Day 284 were my midnight gamble where I start of at about 11.30pm to do the current days run and then 12.02am to do the next days run. I was knackered in the muggy conditions but enjoyed it.
Day 284 part 2 was me taking part in the Speed of Light event that's part of the Edinburgh Festival. The event involves about 100 runners dressing up in special light suits and running about over the very steep hills of Arthur's Seat late at night putting on a show for paying spectators. Each and every runners suit is controlled by a production team who switch the suits on and off and change the colours of the lights. We also perform a few different choreographed moves other than just running back and forth up and down some very steep slopes. The performance goes from about 10pm until 1.30am and each runner is part of a team that's on the hill for about 90 minutes. This is the toughest 5k I've ever had to do and the good thing is that everybody was completely exhausted and almost on our knees by the end of the event. The difficult thing for me is that I hurt the heel of my foot after about 30 minutes in and felt I was starting to drag my leg about 10 minutes before the end. I loved taking part in the Speed of Light so much that I'm doing a second one on Saturday. As a reserve runner I could be doing even more of these before the end of August :))
Day 285 was a limp with a very very sore left foot and I only did the minimum distance. It was a late night run but sadly no funky Tron style light suit :)

Good job on the festival of light! Looked tough to be out on the hill for that long! Hope your heel recovers!
ReplyDeleteI have come across a few that have said there is quite a risk in this speed of light event. Hope you heal well!
