This morning I had another late start with placement and wasn't due in till 9:00am. I decided to make the most of the extra time and got up slightly earlier than usual in order to squeeze in a few extra miles. I have a complicated weekend of visiting the girlfriend in Aberdeen on Saturday before heading to St Andrews for work on Sunday, returning to Aberdeen in the early hours of Monday morning and then driving back to Glasgow in the afternoon. Knowing that I have a busy weekend lined up, making it a struggle to squeeze in a long run, I decided to give it a go today. Fortunately the bad weather of yesterday had dispersed and it was a beautiful sunny morning. I decided to head to the river and then run to Glasgow Green. After half an hour I would turn around and follow my route back. The run was great and the good weather meant that plenty of other runners were out enjoying the park. I managed to do the return leg slightly quicker than the first half hour and made it back to my front door in 58mins, covering 13.3km. The run felt good and I felt strong. I have decided to attempt some more races this year and so am on the lookout at the moment. I submitted my London Marathon application yesterday and will see how that goes although my main target will be next years Edinburgh Marathon. This is in part because it is a fast course but my main motivation is that, after my failed 2009 attempt, I feel that I have some unfinished business with this race! My run today was a nice one and I will definitely follow this route again in future!
