Nicky: Day 264 Glastonbury 10k race

Nicky: Day 264 Round the Tor 10k (pb) by Nicky.C at Garmin Connect - Details

Hadn't planned to run this, but yesterday Danny from the running club rang & suggested it. Seemed like a good idea. We had friends around so much wine had been drunk! Nice morning for a run though so decided not to aim to high but pootle around & try get 55 mins. Fantastic atmosphere & a real shame that our running club not supporting this event in force. Only 3 Langport runners in attendance! Great family event too with a 1k, 3k, 5k & 10k race. Really well organised with plenty of loos, tea & cake shops etc plus the sunshine bought the town out in force.
Started the race on a wee sharp hill - Ouch! Felt ok once I settled into the race. Loads of Millfield school boys running - like all teenagers the shoot off at a break neck speed then are walking by 1-2 miles. Nice for an old lady like me to be overtaking them all. Felt pretty good & amazed myself by achieving yet another PB. Finished the race in 49:21.  Well well chuffed. I think I knocked a minute off my previous 10k PB which was set last year at the Ilminster 10k.  Happy days!  Wine as a carbo loading fuel obviously works well for me!
