Today I had a steady jog down to Pollock Park for the mornings Parkrun. I was gutted when I arrived to find everyone walking away from the start line however I was fortunate to spot Emma from work who explained that ice on the path meant that we would be moving to an alternative route around the playing fields. I was chuffed that the run would go ahead however the muddy playing field soon turned into a bit of a bog and, after sinking into a couple of icy cold puddles, I was starting to regret my decision to give it a go! Three laps later however I was pleased to have taken part and my second place finish was a nice result to go home with. The muddy course did leave me a good two minutes slower than I was hoping to run but it is all good practice and will no doubt benefit my 5k time when I get back to racing on the tarmac.
