Jack: Day 60/365...Disaster Strikes!!!!

Disaster! On the 20th June I flew to Cape Town via Amsterdam and incorporating a 7hour overnight stay on a bench in Johannesburg airport. I worked out beforehand that I had a very small window in which to complete my run as I would need to be at Glasgow airport for 4am on 20th June and would be flying/in transit until 9am on the 21st June. Because of this I woke up at 2:30am on the 20th in order to try and run my 5k for the day before flying out and disaster struck...I lost the keys to my flat. As I would be away for two weeks and Vicki would be left in the flat (without a key of her own!) this was a nightmare. I ended up spending the time which should have been spent running looking for the key (unsuccessfully) and eventually ran out of time and had to leave for the airport. The keys turned up later (I had left them at the gym!!!!) however this means that I was unable to fit in my 5k on the 20th as I spent the rest of the day in the air or stuck in an airport. Not sure what to do now. I was away for 2 weeks and completed my 5k everyday whilst I was away but I now have a missing day in my record. Any thoughts or is that game over? Cheers guys.

  1. I would be happy to forgive 1 day but for a forfeight? Add an extra day or week onto the end? What does everyone else think?
    How was SAfrica? Welcome back.

  2. Welcome back Jack from your holibags.

I agree with Nicky that you should do a forfeit for the day you missed so that you don't make a habit of it. I reckon you should do a double run on the next available day and the runs should both be at least 10k

Have you posted the links to the runs that you did on holiday?

  3. Hey guys! Holiday was awesome cheers. I am more than happy to do a forfeit for missing the day however if I need to start again from day one then so be it. I haven't uploaded the details of the runs from holiday yet but I will get them done ASAP! I will keep going with the running and see what the overall verdict is on here with regards to whether I am on day seventy six or back to square one! Cheers guys!

  4. I have had a think guys and I have decided to start again from day one. I reckon if I took a forfeit and allowed myself to carry on I would feel as though I had cheated and it would bug me endlessly! Back we go to square one! I managed to keep up the running on holiday so I have done a couple of weeks worth since the missed day and so I will upload those dates today and that should take me to roughly day 16 I think!
