That’s it, it’s now official, Summer is over! We have had to finally submit to the darkening evenings and change our running routes from summer to the winter. For me this meant the seasonal changes are coming full circle as I started this challenge on our winter routes. I am very close to the 100 day count down and the winter route brings with it a sharp focus on the need for safe running. Last night I ran with a head torch and tonight I had the full reflective kit on. This means the daylight running will once again be limited to either a lunchtime or weekend run, sad times.
Our winter route leaves the Tennis club at Redland and then across the Downs and along Falcondale Road. A sharp turn in Westbury-on-Trym takes me along Canford lane and through Sea Mills. We then turn at Sylvan Way traffic lights and head into Sea Mills, another turn at the junction with the Mill House pub heads us toward Sea Mills Harbour. From there we are back on the Portway and heading toward the Clifton Suspension Bridge and readying ourselves for the climb up Bridge Valley Road. After a quick breather allowing everyone to catch up, we head past the Zoo and back toward Redland. 8 miles later and we are back at the Tennis Club, Wednesday night club run done!
A would like to say a big thank you to all my fellow GWR runners for their kind words about the Bristol Post article and their offers of support for the end of year event. Additionally a thank you to all my facebook friends for their offers of help and for joining the event at the end of the year, please feel free to share the event as everyone is welcome.
Big Kev
