252/365 Girls on their bikes 5K by Big Kev

252/365 Girls on their bikes 5K by Big Kev

Tonight's run was a laugh a minute. Tina's new bike arrived just before the weekend and it has not been until tonight that she could take it out properly. Whilst many of us want a new road or mountain bike with carbon fibre this and carbon fibre that, Tina has gone completely retro and I do mean retro!

Betty as she will be forever known, is a throw back from the 50's, she even has her own plastic effect wicker basket (go figure).

Well tonight was Betty's first true outing and there were obviously going to be some teething troubles, first the handle bars dropped for no apparent reason (they weren't done up, that was the reason) and then Tina complained that everything felt stiff (insert joke). It transpired that the front brake was well and stuck truly on, and yet the sheer will power of the woman meant that she just kept on riding. Funnily enough when I released the brake the bike seemed to free up and off she shot, chasing after Jess.

My run therefore whilst it had a few stops in the first mile or so, soon settled down and we still made it back in around 25 minutes. Both Tina and Jess still smiling so thats some achievement for us all!

I am certain the girls will be accompanying me again later in the week, I wonder what laughs that will bring.
